Here's a closer look at San Diego's newest eateries, drinking spots, hotels, conference areas, private rooms, and other spaces available for events this spring. The new and renovated San Diego venues are available for corporate parties, weddings, fundraisers, outdoor functions, business dinners, team-building activities, conferences, meetings, and more.
Orli La Jolla

About 30 minutes north of San Diego in La Jolla, Orli brings an intimate spin on a classic boutique hotel experience to the seaside town. The building was originally built in 1913 by Irving Gill, the father of California modernism, but was given a refresh by design firm ML Design Co. in October 2022. The 13-key hotel boasts a homey feel with modern, upscale touches. Consider hosting an event in its courtyard (pictured), which can accommodate up to 85 guests and is complemented by lush olive trees and market-style lights. Meanwhile, Orli's lounge and library space blends Parisian art deco with modernism, and boasts hues of green and gold. An adjacent brew bar serves kombucha and cold brew on tap. For more intimate events, the lounge and library can host a total of 40 guests. Partial buyouts are also on offer, as well as group room blocks for overnight stays and additional event space alike.

The Sound

San Diego’s newest concert and event venue is The Sound, located at the Del Mar Fairgrounds inside the Surfside Center. Operated by Belly Up Entertainment, The Sound opened its doors to the public in early February 2023, kicking off with a performance by Ziggy Marley. For future events, the venue boasts an upper and lower level that can hold up to 1,900 guests for a full buyout. The Sound is notable for its sleek and modern design—plus its moody lighting to match. With a stage and full AV capabilities, not to mention terraces, balconies, standing-room only, and accessible areas for prime views of the stage, The Sound is the perfect location for events with live performances.

Adams Avenue Theater

Adams Avenue Theater, which is housed in a 100-year-old building, underwent renovations last year and reopened in its Normal Heights outpost in September 2022. A community landmark, Adams Avenue Theater is now a venue space for more than just movies, although the revamp preserved its classic Americana feel. The theater can host up to 298 guests for private events and live performances, charging planners $4,500 for to-dos taking place Monday-Thursday, $5,500 on Fridays, and $6,500 on Saturdays. There's two mobile bars on-site, including an AV system and customizable marquee lettering upon request.

Snapdragon Stadium

As of August 2022, nestled in San Diego State University (SDSU)'s Mission Valley is one of San Diego’s largest multipurpose venues, Snapdragon Stadium. Home to the San Diego State Aztecs, the 35,000-seat stadium is owned by SDSU and managed by 0VG360. Snapdragon Stadium’s sprawling grounds feature nine private event venues that vary in size and capacity. For indoor seated events, look to the Cox Business Club, which offers built-in bars and buffets for up to 400 guests. For a more interactive—and outdoor—experience, the Dos Equis Club and the Cutwater Bar provide sweeping views of the field, as well as access to food trucks serving some of the city’s favorite local eats.

The Seventh House

The Seventh House introduced an unparalleled immersive dining experience to San Diego's culinary scene when it opened in October 2022. The Seventh House draws its inspiration—both on an off the menu—from tarot cards and mystic symbols. Thus, the restaurant and lounge serves indulgent, overflowing food towers off an expansive menu that blends French and Baja-style cuisine. And decor screams decadence thanks to gold accents and vintage mirror-lined ceilings. The on-site dining lounge offers banquet packages for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with multi-course options for each. A retro bar and signature cocktail list is surely the cherry on top of any event. The Seventh House can accommodate up to 119 guests for full buyouts, which start at $7,000- $13,000 during the day and $10,000-$18,000 at night, depending on the day of the week.
