Summer is heating up on the Universal Studios Lot! The new modern Employee Commons facility, which includes a top floor, 4,500-square-foot event venue, is now open.
Located in the heart of the studio, the facility includes stunning, westward-facing views of the Hollywood Hills from the ballroom, the stylish pre-function space, and the outdoor terrace. This versatile center is part of an overall campus renovation project that has created beautiful outdoor gathering spaces, a new high-end restaurant, a self-serve eatery, and a delicious sushi bar along with a large, lush open lawn space surrounded by trees—all of which can be utilized for events of all kinds.
The Event Center can be utilized as one large event venue with a total capacity of up to 500 guests, or divided into four separate rooms for more intimate gatherings. With built-in AV technology, contemporary furnishings, and onsite catering, this venue is perfect for a wide range of events.
Another exciting element is the return of theaters on the studio lot. Three state-of-the-art theaters are just one floor down from the Event Center. The Main Theater seats 250, and the two smaller theaters seat 114. All theaters are equipped to screen multiple formats and feature the amazing Dolby® Atmos sound technology.
This dedicated event venue was built with event planners in mind. Creating a turn-key facility was top of mind for the Universal Studios Lot Special Events team led by Krista Boling, VP of Marketing & Special Events. Events produced on the Lot have access to the studio's services—including onsite lighting and grip, costume and property rentals, a sign shop, and transportation vehicles that can all be utilized for any projects, making the Lot a one-stop destination.
Our first large-scale event for the recent NBCUniversal LA Screenings meetings utilized the entire Event Center and theaters for a week-long program of screenings, cocktail receptions, and gatherings. The Universal Property department and Fabrication Staff Shop was hands-on in creating a grand, Wicked-inspired yellow-brick road entrance lined with tulips and gorgeous costume displays.
In addition to the new Event Center, the Lot's spacious sound stages and iconic backlot locations are always popular places to create magical events. With stages ranging from 6,000 to 36,000 square feet, a sound stage is an easy blank canvas for anyone's vision. And if you are looking to produce a built-in themed event, we have everything from a New York street to Western and Mexican streets, plus a large European area that makes every occasion a blockbuster event.
