15 New Venues in Miami/South Florida for Fall 2022 Meetings and Events

Oceanside resort destination Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa completed a year-long, multimillion-dollar reimagination of its social spaces in August. From Bilkey Llinas Design, the renovation pays homage to vintage Palm Beach and propels the property into the future with a modern-yet-elegant sophistication. Eight food and beverage concepts are led by executive chef Neall Bailey, and new additions include a 12-seat sushi and soon-to-be omakase experience at Böken; Oceana Coffee, which is furnished with housemade treats; and a nostalgic ice cream and frozen yogurt parlor called Melt. All join staple steakhouse Angle and hearty Italian eatery Polpo. Additionally, the Riviera-style pool experience has been reinvented to house the Family Pool with a gaming area and splash pad—adjacent to the new kids and teens club—and the adults-only Tranquility Pool equipped with tech-friendly cabanas and daybeds. Sun, sand, and sea converge to create a stunning setting for weddings, conferences, incentive trips, and relaxing retreats anchored at the five-star Eau Spa. Plus, in addition to more than 30,000 square feet of flexible event space that can accommodate up to 1,000 guests (there are three ballrooms, several breakout meeting rooms, and two boardrooms), a new 100-guest outdoor wedding space overlooking the ocean now graces the north side of the resort. Wrapped in art by Hoxxoh and MILAGROS Collective, Wynwood’s first hotel, Arlo Wynwood, is slated to open Nov. 1. The all-new, 217-room, nine-story hotel was the vision of NBWW Architects and award-winning design firm Meyer Davis. It draws on the neighborhood’s artistic nature (there are 250 works of art throughout) infused with industrial aesthetics. Warm, earthy materials are contrasted by contemporary finishes and vivid accents. And true to Arlo, there are expansive living rooms and lounges throughout, while white, oak-furnished guest rooms boast tech-friendly features. But the real magic happens on the rooftop, which is home to a pool with private cabanas, a bar and café, and a 920-square-foot yoga deck brought to life by a plexiglass mural from collage artist Ari Robinson. Chef and partner Brad Kilgore teamed up with Bar Lab to introduce multiple food and beverage concepts, including flagship restaurant MaryGold’s Florida Brasserie as well as a soon-to-be-named concept, which favors artisanal cocktails and light bites in a lush, tropical courtyard setting. There is more than 14,000 square feet of meeting event space, and private event pricing starts at $5,000.

Opening Nov. 3 and located in the center of the 2.1-million-square-foot, multi-use development of Plaza Coral Gables, Loews Coral Gables boasts a modern-yet-timeless design with a sophisticated palette of neutral and rich tones. The first new hotel build in Coral Gables in more than 20 years, the hotel boasts 242 guest rooms and 23 suites, along with four brick-and-mortar food and beverage concepts, including Americana Kitchen, Americana Bar, and Latin-inspired poolside oasis Phineas. There is 30,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including the 9,000-square-foot Alhambra Ballroom (pictured), a dedicated outdoor event deck and lawn located on the ninth-floor rooftop terrace with panoramic views, and a sprawling presidential suite for private events. The destination fee comes with perks like a professional on-property photo shoot, Uber credit, food and beverage credit, and complimentary bike rentals. Event pricing ranges depending on the event. For a board room or smaller meeting room, rates range from $2,500-$8,000 while ballroom rentals range from $25,000-$85,000.

July welcomed El Camino’s third South Florida outpost, El Camino West Palm Beach, stationed in The Square in the West Palm Beach Financial District and located just steps from the convention center. The restaurant is known for its friendly vibe and scratch Mexican fare paired with its star margaritas from the well-stocked tequila and mezcal bar. Interiors were the brainchild of Manhas Design and include signature lime-green booths with black-tufted chairs and barstools complemented by industrial-style brick walls, concrete flooring, and artsy murals. There’s 7,000 square feet of indoor space as well as a 1,500-square-foot outdoor patio with covered seating, which can cater to private or semi-private parties—like birthday celebrations and corporate lunches—of up to 300 guests. Situated on one of the world’s most densely sea turtle nesting havens in Juno Beach, the 27,500-square-foot Loggerhead Marinelife Center opened in April. In addition to an on-site turtle hospital, a research laboratory, educational exhibits, and aquariums, there’s plenty of light and airy special event space overlooking the ocean in a modern coastal property. For weddings, special events, conferences, and meetings, choose from a 99-seat auditorium, a 5,101-square-foot multi-purpose space, the 1,000-square-foot One Ocean Hall, and two open-air spaces: the 1,969-square-foot Café Deck and the 3,772-square-foot Sky Deck. Event buyout prices range from $700-$10,500 and depend on length of event, day of week, and time of day.

Fogo de Chão Fort Lauderdale—which opened in August—boasts a warm, timeless design with modern aesthetics. The space channels the restaurant group’s Brazilian roots with elegant chandeliers, floor-to-ceiling windows, and rich interior tones. The expansive 520-square-foot, 226-seat dining room showcases an open-air grill where gauchos perform the culinary art of churrasco. Dry-aged meat lockers house wagyu cuts, and a soaring glass wine case highlights proprietary South American wines. The location also features a 72-seat covered outdoor patio and bar area for alfresco dining, as well as a 42-seat private dining room, the 15-seat Market Table, and a 50-seat semi-private dining space to accommodate holiday parties, corporate dinners, wedding showers, and more. There are five different group dining package options available, starting at $53 per person.

In May, 7,000-square-foot luxury gym and mixed-used space LEGACY opened in Wynwood, offering much more than state-of-the-art fitness training. The design, executed by Skywerk Development and Scotty Wonders, was a top priority. In addition to the open-format gym, there’s a catwalk-style aisle; a smoothie, wine, and beer bar; an IV suite; two cold plunges; and a sauna. The sleek and modern design also features neutral tones, high ceilings, and a floating shipping container that holds the office and podcast room. Outside of private team-building workouts, the venue is equipped to host happy hours, panel discussions, brand launch parties, artist showcases, and more. Full buyouts are priced at $500 per hour. Fees must be paid upfront, and event hosts are responsible for providing liability insurance.

An open-air cinema experience that started as a single rooftop in London’s Shoreditch in 2011 celebrated its South Beach opening in June. The new Rooftop Cinema Club South Beach outpost boasts pink neon signage, retro movie posters, multicolored walls, and Instagrammable art installations. The venue also offers stunning Miami views, as well as traditional movie snacks, a full food menu (nachos, smoked gouda flatbread, and mashed avocado and garlic fries are popular items), and specialty cocktails. The 14,000-square-foot venue has capacity for up to 200 guests and is available for private buyouts ranging from $7,000-$12,000 for three-hour booking windows. For birthdays, team-building events, private corporate parties, VIP soirees, private film showings, and holiday parties, amenities include a large-scale DCP projector screen, space for a DJ and emcee, table games, theater seating, a separate seated dining area, a photo booth, and choice of movie for private screenings.

Groot Hospitality's Gekkō is a Japanese, steakhouse-inspired concept in Brickell from Bad Bunny and David Grutman. The 10,000-square-foot restaurant opened in August and seats up to 185 diners across a lushly decorated, seamlessly blended indoor-outdoor flow. Designed by Rockwell Group, the space features plush, jewel-toned décor rendered in a darkened palette and radiating with flecks of light. Stunning accents like a custom gold and red dip-dyed rope installation, graphic wall coverings, velvet drapery, and backlit cutouts enhance the magnetic evening atmosphere. And the menu is chock full of premium fare, including starters like wagyu crispy rice and lobster dumplings, rolls from the playfully named 24k Otoro to the surf and turf A5, and mains such as grilled whole lobster, crispy snapper, and a slew of high-end Japanese steaks. Complementary cocktails also abound. Take the vodka-and-Cuban-coffee-infused "cafécito con leche," for example, or the "Golden Gai" mixed with tropical fruits, cognac, and matcha. A lounge can host parties of 10-100, and the restaurant is open to private dinners, client meetings, bridal showers, and receptions. Inquire within for private event rates.

Following a $50 million renovation, classic Coconut Grove property Mayfair House Hotel & Garden shared its big reveal in September. Original architect Kenneth Treister’s signature archways, unique finishes, and rich décor elements have been intentionally preserved. And building on his maximalist style, the property celebrates an ongoing neighborhood resurgence with new modern furnishings, a curated guest room art program, and commissioned pieces throughout. At the heart of the hotel is a vibrant, sun-kissed courtyard and garden filled with lush plants, cascading fountains, beautiful pools, fanciful copper lighting, and sculptural accents. Guest rooms were redesigned to be small private homes with thoughtful luxurious accents, including deep standalone bathtubs, private walled garden terraces, and outdoor showers. Two brand-new food and beverage outlets were conceptualized by Miami hospitality group Lost Boy & Co. The lobby-level Mayfair Grill serves woodfired cuisine with Sonoran flavors and sprawls from the main dining room to the internal Fountain Bar and out along the external patio. And Sipsip (pictured) is the rooftop’s new Calypso-style pool bar that serves island-inspired bites and cocktails. The colorful focal point is a mural by Bahamian artist Angelika Wallace-Whitfield and there's 8,500 square feet of versatile meeting and event space for galas, weddings, cocktail parties, conferences, exhibitions, and banquets. Pricing ranges from $1,500-$35,000 depending on the venue, time of year, and day of the week.

As of March, Doral is home to Shoma Bazaar, a food, beverage, and event locale founded by award-winning real estate developer Shoma Group. Two large welcome sculptures designed by Dr. Simon Ourjan stand outside the 13,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor space. Pops of color, art, and craftsmanship are prevalent throughout, including an overhead flower sculpture designed by The Plant Guy, polychrome murals, woodwork accents, a shipping container framing the biergarten, and floor-to-ceiling windows that allow for flexible, open-air seating. The bar itself is alluring with 30 bar seats, a refined cocktail lounge area, four mixology stations, an expansive back bar, and bespoke cocktails available on draft. There are also more than a dozen American-, Italian-, and Asian-influenced food vendors led by some of South Florida’s finest chefs–including BFF: Burger Franks Fries, an original concept led by famed Prime One Twelve alum. Two 25-foot projector screens are available for presentations or private screenings, and there’s capacity for receptions of up to 480 seated and 680 standing guests—from weddings to holiday parties to galas. Private event pricing starts at $3,000 and are dependent on size, scope, and event date.

A new open-air restaurant on historic Dinner Key, the 5,000-square-foot Bayshore Club opened in July. Celano Design Studio was at the helm of the 300-seat waterfront restaurant anchored by a 360-degree bar with a natural colors laced with tropical elements and a massive overhang allows the ocean breeze to flow effortlessly. Guests are welcomed with a retro “Greetings from Miami” postcard mural. The nostalgic nod to midcentury travel celebrates the site’s past as Pan Am’s first seaplane terminal and hangars, with details found in the wallpaper, drink coasters, and menu design. Additionally, there’s an outdoor hangout area on the lawn with private cabanas, lounge seating, games, and fire pits. Seafood-forward fare and flight-themed cocktails round out the restaurant, which is suitable for private events, reception dinners, bridal and baby showers, and client meetings. A full, cocktail-style buyout can host up to 500, and The Hangar at Regatta Harbour is available for larger-scale events like weddings and galas. Pricing ranges from $25,000-$100,000, plus taxes and service fees.

Following a full renovation, the refreshed, 5,487-square-foot Italian-meets-Mediterranean, 120-seat Brickell eatery reopened in September. A sense of community is at the core of Fi’lia’s relaunch, which features white-meets-wood interiors framed by cozy banquettes, floor-to-ceiling windows, soft candlelight, and lush greenery—an idyllic setting for delicious, unhurried meals. The 1,970-square-foot alfresco terrace is a beautiful option for evening birthdays, anniversaries, and work celebrations under the stars. For extra-special occasions, there’s an exclusive chef’s table that offers a front-row show to Fi’lia’s open kitchen. With a fresh, pure, and unpretentious approach to food and drink, the family-style menu ranges from handmade pizzas and pastas to grilled meats, vegetables, and seafood dishes that use locally sourced ingredients. Cocktails highlight Miami’s native fruits, and there’s an extensive wine list clad with varietals from Italy, France, California, and Canada. Dinner buyouts from Sunday to Thursday begin at $15,000, while weekend events start at $20,000.

Following a multimillion-dollar makeover, Timpano Las Olas returned to Fort Lauderdale’s most bustling Boulevard in August. Rich emeralds, gold tones, and pops of brightness fill the art-deco-meets-modern 8,200-square-foot space, while black-and-white checkerboard tiling, flame-stitch and metal-chain curtains, and customized peacock wall coverings add magnificent accents. For events, in addition to a 450-guest full buyout, there are several private and semi-private nooks, including the 14-seat Wine Room (complete with audiovisual amenities); 42-seat Library Room; 36-seat Peacock Lounge; and covered, 50-seat Il Giardino patio, inspired by The Secret Garden. The restaurant is a suitable setting for private corporate meetings, wedding rehearsal dinners, and anniversary celebrations. Food and beverage minimums begin at $2,000.

A petite, 305-square-foot space dubbed Freddy's Speakeasy debuted downtown inside the InterContinental Miami in August. Interior elements are a roaring '20s throwback and feature vintage furnishings, plush seating, and a dazzling candlelit bar. This small-but-mighty space is perfect for intimate cocktail parties of up to 12 guests for holidays, birthdays, and wedding events. A flapper hostess greets all with a Four Ballades welcome cocktail, and a personal bartender and barback are at your disposal. Three-hour event buyouts begin at $2,000.
