Here's a look at San Diego's new spaces open for events this spring. The new and renovated San Diego venues are available for corporate parties, weddings, fundraisers, outdoor functions, business dinners, team-building activities, conferences, meetings and more.

The Seabird Resort, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel

Scheduled to open in May, The Seabird Resort in Oceanside, Calif., will feature 226 guest rooms and close to 20,000 square feet of oceanfront event space. Included in that is the Grand Coastal Ballroom, which spans 6,473 square feet and offers a terrace and room for 744 people. Other spaces include an 18-seat boardroom, a library that holds 100 for events and a pool deck that holds up to 1,000. There’s also a restaurant with a made-to-order pasta station, as well as an on-site spa.

Mission Pacific Hotel, A JdV by Hyatt Hotel ​

Also in Oceanside is the Mission Pacific Hotel, a 161-room, bohemian-chic property slated to open in early May. Event space includes a private dining room at the hotel’s eclectic, Baja California-inspired restaurant, operated by award-winning chef Roberto Alcocer; the intimate space will span 375 square feet and have a capacity of 16. There is 13,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space in total; a highlight is the Pacific Garden, a landscaped lawn covering 2,800 square feet of space for as many as 300 guests.

The University Club Atop Symphony Towers

The University Club Atop Symphony Towers has reopened for events with a newly renovated restaurant, Helm, and new menu options for private and corporate events. The 16,000-square-foot private club offers breathtaking views and conference rooms that can host more than 500 guests spread across a variety of spaces; several rooms include a projection screen or TVs along with other audiovisual needs. The venue's most extensive private event space, Laureate Ballroom, is 2,700 square feet and can host 180 seated guests or 250 standing guests. Full buyouts for meetings and activities range from $20,000 to $35,000.

Flora

Flora is a flexible event space located steps from the historic Gaslamp Quarters. The entire property has 5,000 square feet of function space and 3,600 square feet of open-concept space. Built-in ambient lighting, a state-of-the-art sound system, and in-house wooden tables, chairs and lounge decor enable a turnkey experience for guests and event hosts. Flora's venue rental kit also includes movable partitions and color LED lighting, allowing guests to customize the venue, which can seat 200 people or hold 170 people standing with a dance floor. Decor highlights of the space, which opened in 2019, include over 130 live plants plus the original, exposed beams of the nearly 100-year-old building.

ARLO

ARLO restaurant opened in San Diego’s Mission Valley in August. Helmed by chef Josh Mouzakes, ARLO uses local ingredients to create menu offerings such as seafood, grilled and smoked meats, and vegetarian and vegan dishes inspired by the indigenous flavor profiles of the region. The restaurant, which features an outdoor patio with 100 seats, is located on the newly renovated Town and Country resort grounds.

The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center

The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center is a cultural, arts education and community event center in La Jolla, Calif., that opened in 2019. The permanent home of the La Jolla Music Society, the venue offers 49,000 square feet of event space, including the 481-seat Baker-Baum Concert Hall and the Jai, a contemporary space that seats 120 at round tables or holds 250 standing. The Atkinson Room is a meeting space with a wall-mounted digital presentation screen that can accommodate up to 100 guests outdoors and 70 for indoor events.

Cal-a-Vie Health Spa

Cal-a-Vie Health Spa reopened in February with two new pickleball courts as part of its fitness program, as well as new seasonal spa services. The wellness retreat boasts 19,000 square feet of meeting and event space combined with cutting-edge technology for meetings. Spaces include the Lakeview Meeting Room, which accommodates 80 seated guests; the Great Room, which accommodates 150 guests for an indoor cocktail reception; the French Library boardroom, which accommodates 20 seated guests; and the 5,000-square-foot L’Orangerie North Lawn, which accommodates 300 standing or seated guests for an outdoor cocktail reception or banquet-style event.

La Casa del Camino

Looking to get out of the city? Newly renovated in Laguna Beach is La Casa del Camino, a 10-suite resort that blends old Hollywood glamour with Spanish revival charm. The boutique property has over 6,200 square feet of total indoor and outdoor event space with Pacific Ocean views, including a 1,625-square-foot rooftop lounge that can accommodate as many as 120 guests for a seated or cocktail-style event. Buyouts of all the meeting rooms and both restaurants (Rooftop and Comedor) can be arranged.
