Hyatt Centric Ville-Marie Montréal

The Hyatt Centric brand opened its first property in Canada in March 2023. Hyatt Centric Ville-Marie Montréal, located in the heart of Old Montréal, offers 177 guest rooms (including five suites), a signature restaurant fusing Québec and British cuisines, and a rooftop pool that's slated to open this summer. Here, local design touches abound. The property's façade—comprising Normand brick, white polished concrete, and zinc metal—is influenced by the neighboring chateau, historic church roofs in the area, and the iconographic clock tower on the waterfront (which is just a few steps from the hotel). The lobby decor is inspired by the Jacques Cartier Bridge, with metal arches and wood paneling. The new Hyatt Centric also offers four fully equipped meeting and event facilities sprawling nearly 5,000 square feet. Planners can expect audiovisual hybrid tech supplied by Encore Global and floor-to-ceiling windows.

The Combine

In January 2023, independent creative collective Tadiem Inc. opened The Combine, a community-driven workspace in Toronto meant to redesign "what an office is and does and means," according to its website. The space aims to blend traditional office elements with unique spaces and tools to heighten creativity and community. Creators and brands across Canada are able to join The Combine as members to get inspired and to host events. The venue comprises spaces like a full bar known as Luigi's (which can be closed off and booked by members for events), a cafe, a retail space dubbed The Bevy, and a work area called The Grove. There's also The Yard (pictured), an indoor basketball court that doubles as an event space. Members can reserve it for gatherings, socializing, photos shoots, and other creative moments.

The hotel will also feature a "living room," a games room, and a library. The aforementioned bar offers shareable plates, or guests can grab a snack and a coffee at a grab-and-go space open 24/7. Planners can make use of 1,520 square feet of meeting space across four event rooms than can accommodate up to 60 people.
